HB 2512 89(R): My first time testifying in the Texas Senate was a great success. After passing the Texas House, this bill would have stripped property rights from millions of Texans living just outside a municipality by prohibiting them from petitioning for removal from the city's Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) as an individual lot of a subdivision, or as a property owner with less than 12 acres.

It was worth taking PTO and waking up at 4am to make the three-hour drive to Austin, because I protected the property rights of Millions of Texans by testifying "On" the bill and suggesting changes.

After pointing out this oversight to Senator Phil King, he agreed to amend the bill on the floor to limit those provisions to Tarrant County only.

My testimony (which prompted King's amendment) saved property rights for millions of people in 253 of 254 Texas counties.

HB 1088 89(R): Our State Rep. Shelby Slawson had a bill up for hearing that aimed to extend the statute of limitations for medical malpractice lawsuits re: "gender affirming care" of minors.

I was in Austin for another event that day, so I registered to speak in favor of the bill. Many who testified recommended increasing the statute of limitations beyond when the patient reaches age 25. That amendment was supposed to happen on the floor of the Texas House. The bill passed out of committee.

Unfortunately, the bill never made it to the floor because it died in the Calendars committee...many such cases exist.

At the Granbury ISD School Board meeting between bond steering committee sessions, I made it clear which items must be removed from consideration.

We had recently defeated a flawed $394 million bond proposal with many questionable components. I joined the steering committee for the second bond iteration to ensure unacceptable ideas were excluded.

In addition to these remarks, they were later advised to keep the second bond under $100 million. However, they chose to ignore my guidance and lost another bond election.
